Dockton Forest is a popular spot for mountain biking on Maury Island, Washington. The area offers a network of singletrack trails that wind through the woods, offering challenging climbs and descents. The trails are suitable for intermediate and advanced riders, and are known for their technical sections and rocky terrain. There are several different trails in Dockton Forest, some of which are steep and technical, while others are more flowy and less challenging. Some popular trails include:
"Flying Monkey": This is a popular blue singletrack trail that is 1,499 ft long.
On average it takes 1 minute to complete this trail. Fun!
"The Maury Incident": This is definitely a black diamond-rated jump line. It has a really good flow that will keep you exhilarated all the way to the bottom.
"Gravel Pit Access Trail: This is a multi-use dirt/gravel road trail
that can be used both directions and is 3,858 ft long. It has a moderate rating. On average it takes 11 minutes to complete this trail but you will probably stop and see the sights like we did.
It's worth noting that these trails are not maintained by any official organization and as such, the conditions of the trails can change frequently. Some trails may be closed or have washouts, so it is always good to check with local riders before heading out.
We had a great time here. It was peaceful, quiet, and was a very enjoyable adventure with my two daughters.
If you like beer, check out Camp Colvos Brewing which is on the neighboring Vashon Island. Good food food and beer there. Vashon is another story coming soon I hope. Good times. Cheers!
